Over 70 students and student assistants came from Stephens County and Jefferson County and from as far away as Tulsa and Paris (that�s France, not Texas)! Led by a great group of instructors, the day campers� ability to create and explore new arts disciplines was evident by the end of the week as they displayed their work and performed for their families on Friday evening. <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3219/2692777385_273d9f9bfb_m.jpg" align ="left" width="190" height="240"> The students were guided in the six disciplines by: Dora Obuobisa of Moore, OK , originally from Ghana � Tie-Dye/Batik. Dan Hazel of Marlow � Pottery. Joe Long of Oklahoma City � Mime. Dave Young from Duncan � Kite Making. KayLynn Sarkey of Edmond, OK � Dance. Robby McMurtry from Morris, OK � Drawing. All of the instructors commented about how well behaved and eager to learn that this year�s class had been. All of the instructors said that they would enjoy coming again next year. After the Arts Education Committee for CTAC looks at all of the evaluations they will begin making plans for 2009. If your child, or you know of a child that is eligible and has not enrolled in Arts Explosion, do it now before the enrollment fee increases on July 1st. Arts Explosion allows students to work with professional artists, learning a variety of techniques and skills in four of the six artistic disciplines offered during the week. The six artistic disciplines offered this year are: Drawing, Kite Making, Tie-Dye and Batik, Mime, Pottery, and Dance. This year�s Arts Explosion will be held at the Stephens County Fairgrounds on July 14th through July 18th . Sessions begin at 8:30 am and will end at 12:20 pm. Students can be dropped off beginning at 8:15 am and should be picked up no later than 12:30. All students who are just completing the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades this spring are eligible to attend. Fees include class instruction and supplies. Registration on or before June 30 is $50 per student, on or after July1, $60. Complete payment must accompany registration. There are a limited number of partial and full scholarships available from the CTAC office. Registration fees are non-refundable. Enrollment is limited to the first 100 students who register. There will be an exhibition of finished projects on Friday, July 18, 2008 beginning at 5:30 pm at the Stephens County Fairgrounds. Arts Explosion provides exposure to various artistic disciplines laying a foundation for arts education while allowing each child to explore the possibilities of developing his/her creative potential. CTAC feels strongly that Arts Explosion provides a point of entry into the arts for elementary aged students, and reaches many families that may not normally emphasize the importance of the arts. CTAC Annual Meeting

<div id="PageWrapper"> <div id="Header"> <img src="http://www.chisholmtrailarts.com/email/EUPDATE_banner.jpg">  CTAC Annual Meeting <div class="floatclear"></div> </div> <div id="Content"> June 11, 2008 The annual meeting of the Chisholm Trail Arts Council will take place on Monday June 16, 2008 at the CTAC office, 717 W. Willow, Suite 6, Duncan, at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the meeting, and current members of the Chisholm Trail Arts Council are eligible to vote for previously nominated candidates to the Board of Directors. Election to the Board of Directors is for a three-year term, which begins July 1. The regular monthly board meeting will take place immediately following the annual meeting, at which time the Board of Directors will discuss regular business. The mission of Chisholm Trail Arts Council is to provide accessible artistic programs that enhance the quality of life, encourage economic development and educate the people of Stephens County. For over 32 years Chisholm Trail Arts Council has filled a tremendous cultural need in the Stephens County community through many projects. Arts Explosion , a summer youth arts camp and Artists in Schools are a few of the programs available to the youth of the area. CTAC also offers the Live From the Center performance series filled with nationally and internationally acclaimed performers, and the 2008-2009 season is no exception. Season highlights include the No Justice performing September 6, 2008, a young Red Dirt band featuring the lead vocals of Duncan�s own Steve Rice, the classical sounds of the Hugo Wolf Quartett from Austria on October 17, 2008 , and the world renowned Golden Dragon Acrobats of China on March 12, 2009 who recently completed their 2008 touring season with a sold out Symphony Hall in Bo ston, Massachusetts. Grants, which cover a percentage of programming fees, are available to the organization, but CTAC relies heavily on local support for these programs to become reality. Membership in CTAC is provided through financial contributions from private citizens and businesses within the community.
