Arts Explosion

Enrollment for Summer 2009 is now open!

CTAC's Arts Explosion is a week-long arts summer camp for students who have completed third, fourth or fifth grades. This year's camp is July 13-17, from 8:30 - 12:20. Drop-off is at 8:15, and pick-up is no later than 12:30.

Enrollment is limited to the first 100 students who register. So that everyone may benefit from the Arts Explosion experience, discipline problems will be addressed immediately and disruptive students may be sent home with no refund.

On Friday, July 17, beginning at 5:30 there is an exhibition at the Stephens County Fairgrounds.

POTTERY -


Dan Hazel comes to Duncan for his fifth Arts Explosion experience after great student reviews from last year. Dan earned his BA Ed at USAO and his MA at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He is employed by Marlow Public Schools as the Art and Photography teacher and has participated in numerous art shows and taken home the top prize inmany. CTAC welcomes Dan back as our pottery instructor!

DRAWING -

Robby McMurtry will make his second appearance as an instructor of drawing at Arts Explosion. McMurtry was born and raised in Stephens County and now resides in Morris, OK where he is an arts instructor and Cultural Coordinator of the Indian Education Program, Morris Public Schools. Robby is an accomplished American Indian artist, illustrator and author of "Song of Moon Pony." It's a great to have Robby return to teach at Arts Explosion!

FLUTE -

Janet Romanishin, a nationally certified teacher of flute through Music Teachers National Association, earned her DMA in flute performance from USC. In addition to private teaching, she presents educational programs on the flute family as a member of the Norman Public Schools Visiting Artist Program. She currently performs with the Arioso Consort and is principal flutist with the Oklahoma Community Orchestra. This class will make a flute then learn to play it

TIE-DYE & BATIK -

Dora Obuobisa is an inspiring artist with unique talents in leather work, batik, tie-dye, and traditional African crafts. She holds a BA in painting, a postgraduate diploma and MA in art education from the University of Science and Technology in Ghana. She has worked as an art instructor in several Oklahoma City Schools. She will lead the students in tie-dye design. We welcome Dora back for her 3rd year at AE and the creations her students will unveil.

Clown Class -

Troy Scott was born in Edmond, OK and raised in the metro area. He is comes to Arts Explosion with over twenty years of experience as a professional clown, artist and performer, he will teach the essentials of classic circus, clown make-up, skills and routines for a hilarious end-of-week performance. This class develops confidence,communication and teamwork. Students will be encouraged to actively learn through experimentation and observation while drawing upon their own experience and imagination. Troy Scott Clown Class is limited to 48 kids! (If more sign up a wait list will be implemented).
